LES TERRES DUBIEN
Medoc - Bordeaux | FRANCE
Les Terres Dubien is a charming little estate that kicked off in 2020, boasting 3 hectares of vineyards spread across Saint-Yzans-du-Médoc, Couquèques, and Lesparre, nestled in the Médoc peninsula just north of Bordeaux. Benoit, the mastermind behind the wines of Terres Dubien, naturally took the organic and biodynamic route, aiming to let each plot’s unique character shine through.
Each plot gets its own special treatment with a mix of tillage and various plant covers. Most of the plants used for vineyard sprays, alongside the usual copper and sulphur, are foraged right from the estate or nearby in Médoc. The grape harvest is a hands-on affair, with a bunch of friends pitching in to add a bit of extra magic to the wines.
Winemaking here is all about keeping it natural – native yeasts, gentle extraction, and avoiding wine pumps if they can. Benoit is on a mission to capture pure fruit and elegance. Depending on the cuvée, the wines age for 8 to 18 months in vats and old barrels. Bottling is done without fining or filtration, and the total SO2 stays between 0 and 30 mg/L, depending on the year.
