The Story of Gisela
This wine is a tribute to a special chicken in the Brutler family. While they keep many chickens, this particular one was often bullied by the others—perhaps due to her gentle nature. To protect her, Edgar’s mother brought her into the house, where she became a beloved companion to the dogs, often seen nestled beside his father in the garden or perched on a chair at the dining table. Tragically, she likely fell ill after eating from the dog bowl and passed away too soon. As Edgar reflects, “My dad gets emotional whenever we talk about her.”
Vinification
The grapes are direct pressed and co-fermented, the juice matures for eight months in a two used French and Austrian oak barrels. It is bottled without fining, filtration, or the addition of sulfur.
